Getting More Out of Your Photograhy Studio

John Dove on the backdrop that he writes about in this post
We have been in our current photography studio in Annapolis, Maryland for about seven years. We do a fair amount of portraits in the studio area of our business though I knew we could get more from the studio area.

Up until today, I have photographed in the 12ft x 22ft space in one direction, the only direction that made sense having limited space. The backdrops looking out to the camera from the far end of the studio, seamless paper, muslin, canvas. All are beautiful, clean and contemporary in nature. They lacked however the warmth of a wood floor, white base trim and a warm wall color that would replicate a home setting (this color schemes we have in the show room, reception area and gallery areas).

So, I went to Home Depot and got a gallon of Behr Mohave Desert flat paint, 18 ft of 6” base trim and headed back to the studio. Once I got back to the studio, I went to work. I selected the corner of the studio that has been a challenge of un-usable space.  After selecting the corner, I had painted the two walls, added the trim. It looked awesome! I had installed the wood floors two years ago and this just made it POP!

This has made it ideal for high school seniors, babies, models and small families.

So just look around your studio and get the most out of it....

This is the backdrop that John refers to in this post
